Terms of use

These terms cover your use of studiosmirk.com, run by Studio Smirk, a SmirkLabs initiative. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Paid work is a separate matter. If you hire us, the agreement we sign with you governs that work and overrides anything on this page.

If you hire us, the client agreement we both sign governs the work. The points below summarize what that agreement says, in plain English. They are the same terms we publish on our pricing page. Where this summary and the signed agreement differ, the signed agreement wins.

Month to month, from day one.

Thirty days’ notice ends it. No minimum term, no exit fee, no auto-renewal at a price we never showed you.

You own everything, in writing.

Your domain, website code, hosting, Google listing, analytics, ad accounts, and every page and photo are in your name from the first day. The contract says so.

We add nothing to your Google Ads bill.

Google charges the ads to your card. We never charge a fee on money you did not spend on ads, and your ad accounts stay in your name.

No gag clause.

Nothing in the contract stops you from criticizing us. If we let you down, you are free to say so, anywhere.

One practice per specialty per area.

We will not work for the practice competing with you for the same patients.

No setup fee.

Monthly plans start at the monthly price. There is no onboarding or setup charge on top, on any plan.

A small footer link, which you can remove.

Sites we build carry a "Site by Studio Smirk" link in the footer. It is in the contract so it is never a surprise, and it comes off whenever you ask.

Websites: half to start, half at launch.

Your host bills you for hosting at their price, usually under $25 a month. We add nothing on top.

Not happy with your first month? Within 30 days, book a short call, tell us why, and we refund your first month’s fee.

Monthly plans only, not websites. We pay it back within 14 days, minus anything we paid other companies for you, like software, with the receipts.

The practice audit is a no-obligation review that compares your practice with the top three practices near you on Google: your spot on Google Maps, your reviews and your website, sent to you by email as a short written report. The "Can ChatGPT read your site?" check is a review of whether AI assistants can read your website, with the fixes listed. Both are offered at our discretion and at no charge, and asking for one does not create a contract or oblige either of us to anything further. You can act on what we send yourself, hire someone else to, or ignore it.

We aim to send each audit within two business days. We may decline a request, and we may stop offering the audit or the check at any time.

Our guides explain how websites, search, and advertising work in general terms. They are not tailored to your business, and they are not legal, financial, or professional advice. Search engines and ad platforms change their rules regularly, so a guide that was accurate when written may not be accurate when you read it. Check anything important against the provider's own documentation before you act on it.

Nobody can guarantee a position in Google, a number of new patients, or a return on ad spend, and anyone who does is selling you something. We do not make those promises here or anywhere else. Results depend on your market, your competitors, your budget, and decisions made by platforms we do not control.

We aim to keep this site accurate and available, but we provide it as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Please do not:

• Submit the audit form with someone else's details, or with details you made up.
• Scrape, crawl, or copy the site at a scale that degrades it for other people.
• Attempt to break into, disrupt, or test the security of the site without permission.
• Use the site or its contact details to send unsolicited sales messages.

When you send us details, you confirm they are yours or that you are entitled to share them, and that they are accurate enough for us to do something useful with.

The words, design, illustrations, and code on this site belong to us. You are welcome to read the guides, quote a sentence or two with a link back, and share the pages with anyone you like. You may not republish substantial parts of them as your own, or use them to train a commercial model without asking. If you want to use something more fully, email us. We are usually happy to say yes.

Anything we build or set up for you as a paying client, including your website, domain, analytics, Google Business Profile, and ad accounts, is yours and stays in your name permanently. That is a promise we make deliberately, it is written into the client agreement (see Working with us), and it does not change if you leave.

This site links to other websites and runs services provided by Google, Meta, and our hosting provider. We do not control those third parties, and we are not responsible for their content, their availability, or what they do with data they collect. What they collect here is set out in our privacy policy.

This site, its guides, the practice audit and the AI search check are provided at no charge. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using them or from acting on what they say, including lost profit, business, data, or goodwill. If the law does not allow us to limit or exclude a particular liability, these terms do not try to.

These terms, and any dispute about this website, its guides, the audit or the AI search check, are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction over those disputes.

If you hire us, the signed client agreement governs the paid work instead, as set out in Working with us.

We may update these terms. The current version is always the one on this page, with the date at the top. If you keep using the site after a change, that is your acceptance of it.
